Elated John Levy reacts to landmark decision in Canada

An elated CEO of theScore, John Levy, gave an exclusive interview with Fox Business where he described the decision of Canadian legislators to legalise single sports betting as something they have ‘dreamed about for a number of years’.

It comes as the Toronto-based firm moved quickly to promote  the message to potential customers in its home city.

Following the Senate vote to pass Bill C-218, the company placed three billboards along the Gardiner Expressway in Downtown Toronto, and also took out a placement at Yonge-Dundas Square.

The campaign is being used to share the company’s excitement about bringing its mobile sports betting product, theScore Bet, to fans in its home province, with the expansion of online sports betting in Ontario expected to commence later this year.

Speaking on Fox, Levy stated: “This is something that we have been planning for and dreaming about for a whole bunch of years, even back in the days when we launched our TV network and tapped into this passionate sports enthusiasm.

“We knew a lot of our fans were betting on sports and we got in when PASPA fell. e have already launched in four states in the US and were biding our time and hoping the same thing would happen in Canada and then boom, last night it did after a huge effort from industry leaders.”

“It now goes to the provinces, each of the provinces manage and regulate sports betting and it is exciting as heck – especially for a firm like ours where Canada is our home turf.”

Aubrey Levy, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Content, added: “The passing of Bill C-218 represents a milestone moment for Canada. We’ve been eagerly anticipating and preparing for the legalization of single event sports betting, and now we’re excited to celebrate this moment in our hometown of Toronto.

“These billboards are the beginning of our province-wide marketing rollout as we ramp up towards the expansion of online sports betting in Ontario, which is expected to commence later this year. We can’t wait to introduce the millions of theScore fans and users to our mobile sports betting product, theScore Bet.”
