US online sports betting operator Bookies.com has detailed plans for a fan engagement campaign ahead of the lightweight world title fight between Teofimo Lopez and George Kambosos Jr.

Eddie Hearn, Matchroom Chairman and promoter of the unification match, informed boxing fans that the sports promotion company’s partnership with Bookies.com would provide them with an ‘inside track’ on the bout.

In the build-up to the clash on 27 November – which will see Lopez defend his WBA (Super), WBO, IBF and The Ring titles against IBF mandatory challenger Kambosos Jr – Bookies.com will produce content with fighters and punters, host social media contests with signed boxing gloves and event tickets on offer as prizes will launch one-show interviews with the two fighters and real-time match updates via its social media channels.

“The anticipation is going to reach fever point as we hit Thanksgiving and they meet in New York in fight week, and Bookies.com will be there to give fight fans the inside track on what promises to be an all-out war at the Manhattan mecca of boxing,” Hearn explained.

The contest will be broadcast via Triller and DAZN, the latter due to a deal inked between Matchroom and the global OTT sports streaming service. However, despite this deal Triller retained the rights due to outbidding both Matchroom and Top Rank in the IBF’s tendering contest.

Speaking at the press conference for the bout last week, Kambosos Jr explained that by winning the bout he would cement his legacy as the greatest boxer in Australian history, whilst making his intention to seize not just the IBF belt but Lopez’s other titles very clear.

Lopez and his father – who is also his trainer- however, have asserted that the New York City-born fighter will finish his Australian opponent in the third round or earlier. This could potentially deal a heavy blow to the bookmakers, as the odds of Lopez achieving this stand at around 13/1, in some cases higher.

“I’m not in my prime yet, however I’ve got to make a statement,” Lopez remarked. “I have to make a statement, just like he is and just like what he is going to bring to the table on fight night.

“I have been in the big leagues, I have the experience and the amount of work, but at the end of the day I don’t want to overlook anybody I face.”

Commenting on the fight and his firm’s partnership with Matchroom, Max Bichsel, VP of US Business for Gambling.com Group, which operates Bookies.com, said: “Bookies.com will be the go-to source for bettors searching for meaningful stats, unique commentary and expert picks,” said

“Boxing has long been synonymous with betting, and we expect the November 27 Lopez vs Kambosos Jr fight to continue boxing’s return to the mainstream spotlight. Bookies.com is excited to partner with Matchroom to help make this fight something to remember.”
