Ahead of the start of the new NFL season on September 5, VSiN released a five-part docuseries looking back at last year’s Circa Survivor contest.

Charting the successes and failures of various players throughout the contest, the series has now concluded and the winners have been revealed.

LA Joneser’, ‘Indiana Jet’, ‘Jax Jags’ and the ‘Circus Master’ all successfully went 20-0 with their picks across the NFL season, sharing the $9.2m prize pool.

Each of the four contestants walked away with a cheque for over $2.3m, which was presented to them at a special ceremony at the Circa Sportsbook in Las Vegas

Reacting to their victory, a member of the Jax Jags said: “I’m a millionaire, it feels pretty damn good. I can say that now but it still hasn’t fully set in.”

Remarkably, LA Joneser would have lost out on Thanksgiving weekend if he had made the pick he intended to. He thought he had picked the Detroit Lions who lost to the Green Bay Packers, however, it transpired that he had accidentally chosen Green Bay and therefore, was still in the contest.

Run by Circa Sports, the Circa Survivor Pro Football Contest required players to pick a team each week during the NFL regular season that they believed would win, with the caveat being that they could not use the same team twice. If their team lost they were out of the contest.

Each entry cost a player $1000 and contestants could have up to ten entries. The Jax Jags, a team of two Jacksonville Jaguars fans, were the only winners to make it to the end of the show after submitting just one entry.

9,267 entries were made for the 2023 contest and by week 10, halfway through the competition, only 609 contestants remained, with only 372 entries making it to Thanksgiving weekend.

Just 10 contestants remained heading into the final few rounds of the contest, which required players to make picks on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve.

On Christmas Eve, six players were eliminated after choosing the Denver Broncos, who lost out 26-23 to the New England Patriots.

At this point the four remaining contests chose to “chop” the prize money, meaning that they split $7.2m four ways, guaranteeing them each $1.8m. They carried on playing for a further $2m which was also split when all four remained undefeated.
