Slot streaming is on the rise and one of the men at the forefront of the content revolution is Brian Christopher – the face of Brian Christopher Slots.

On the latest episode of iGaming Daily, Christopher joined Joe Streeter, Editor of iGaming Expert, to talk about his slot streaming journey.

He explained that he began by posting clips of himself playing slots for fun on YouTube and then got his “big break” when a video of him winning the jackpot on the slot Cleopatra went viral.

He has since expanded by running three different YouTube channels that showcase him playing slots and casino games, as well as creating the website Fliptheswitch.com.

Revealing the reason for his success, Christopher said: “We just listen to our audience, that’s been my goal from the beginning.

“We cater to whatever [the audience] is asking for and always want to try and stay ahead of the curve. When I first started, there were only a couple of channels doing this. Now there are hundreds of them and they’re all trying to be Brian Christopher. So I now have to reinvent myself so that we all don’t look exactly the same.”

In June 2024, Christopher partnered with BetMGM to become a brand ambassador for the operator, appearing in content across the brand’s social media channels. More recently, he also signed a deal with SportsGrid to produce content for the media’s new casino and gambling network.

Despite being affiliated with these brands, Christopher was keen to point out that he still has full creative control over his content to remain authentic, something that he believes is key to building viewers and a community around his work.

“If I ended up doing a scripted thing, it just wouldn’t be authentic anymore,” he explained.

“I use [all] my own money to gamble with because, to me, that is authentic as well. I can’t get excited if I’m losing someone else’s money, it has to be real. My wins are my wins and my losses are all mine too. You can tell when other streamers aren’t [using their own money] and personally as a viewer, I don’t find that exciting at all because they’re not getting excited. There’s a wow factor for a few minutes but then I get bored.

“[Viewers] want to see the adventure from start to finish of Brian starting with $1,000 or $10,000 and seeing where he gets to at the end. That to me is more exciting than someone just pressing a button and not really caring, They’re just there to get a paycheck.”

A more recent addition to Christopher’s channel staple is a channel, named Brian Christopher Sweeps, that focuses on Sweepstakes and Social Casinos – a vertical that is growing rapidly in the US in recent years.

Christopher admitted that at first, he struggled to understand why social casinos were so popular given that  people often played for coins rather than cash prizes, however, now, in his words, “I love it”.

He added: “There’s no way of winning any money but people just do it because they like it. Being in a land-based casino is not for everyone. Not everyone likes how noisy they are or in many cases, how smoky they are and they just want to be in their own home where they can be in control of everything and have a good time and play the games they like.”

“Some social casinos have figured out a way to offer a chance to redeem your sweepstakes coins for cash prizes and that’s exciting to another layer of players or even the same kind of players. Sweepstakes has expanded so much over the past few years.”
