EveryMatrix Co-Chief Executive Officer (co-CEO) Jonas Groes sat down with iGaming Daily host Charlie Horner at the supplier’s Copenhagen office to discuss how his first months in the role have created value across the business.
The pair last spoke at ICE Barcelona in February, shortly after Groes joined the technology and software provider, when the company set out its 2030 vision of becoming a top-three provider in the industry.
Groes began by explaining that he has taken over the commercial side of the business, with the Chief Commercial Officer now reporting to him, drawing on his consulting background in sales and account growth.
Modest about his own performance, Groes was still positive about the co-CEO model: “Of course I shouldn’t be the one to judge, but from my perspective, I think it works really well.”
That approach has coincided with a strong year for new business, with tier-one operators such as Betsson and Merkur Group’s Cashpoint joining the client list, alongside new licences in South Africa and Alberta.
Groes said the Merkur Group agreement reflects the trust the group has placed in EveryMatrix: “I think the Merkur deal is amazing, and it’s clear that they have placed a lot of trust in us.” He added that the key is continuing to deliver on the agreed terms.
Groes credited product stability for the supplier’s appeal across tiers and regions, noting that client churn is “extremely low”. He also described a shift in market perception, particularly in the Nordics. He said: “Instead of being the challenger where you really need to fight for your place, all of a sudden you are one of the automatic companies that people reach out to.” He noted that this brings a much lower cost of sales.
To avoid complacency, Groes pointed to three routes to the 2030 target: growing existing accounts, winning new clients and making acquisitions. On the last of these, he described the 2024 acquisition of FSB Technology as EveryMatrix’s way into the UK market and said the same strategy will be used elsewhere. He said: “We can definitely expect more, and you will hear more shortly.”
Looking ahead, Groes named artificial intelligence (AI) as the biggest area for improvement over the next 12 months, both for internal efficiency and for what EveryMatrix delivers to operators. Alongside that, he wants closer partnerships, where both sides “take the difficult decisions together”.
