Legislators across Europe are continuing to tighten gaming regulations, including restrictions on advertising and the use of influencers. Governments in SwedenSpain and the UK have all introduced measures restricting gambling advertisements across their respective markets.

Although this can pose challenges for industry stakeholders, Clever Advertising “welcomes regulation”, according to the firm’s Chief Operating Officer, Marcos Oliveira.

Speaking to James RossSBC’s Multimedia Editor, Oliveira said: “Clever Advertising welcomes regulation. Almost all markets are currently regulated in Europe which is good for us.”

“We know exactly what you can and can’t do and we can provide the best player protection and best value to our partners and clients.”

Oliveira also emphasised the importance of working “market to market” given the fact that certain advertising strategies are allowed in one region but outlawed in another.

Moving away from regulation, during the interview, filmed on the MEO Super Stage at SBC Summit Lisbon, Oliveira hailed the level of collaboration that Clever Advertising has with its partners in the igaming industry.

“One thing that I love in the industry is how close you work with your clients, it’s a way that we can develop each other,” explained Oliveira.

“Clever was traditionally a very media-buying company that has evolved. Now we have a big SEO department, we have influencer partners and we are now crossing over to building our apps.

“We are always closely working with our partners to see what we can do to make their lives easier and to help them bring new players and most importantly retain the players. So close relationships with our partners is the key to our success.”
