Brazil’s looming elections have caused the sitting Workers’ Party (PT) government to re-evaluate the country’s relationship with gambling, less than two years into the regulated market’s launch.

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has vowed to roll back gambling legislation around online casinos, in an effort to appeal to the country’s large evangelical population that sees gambling as a social harm.

Gambling stakeholders in Brazil have reacted in different ways. Exploring some of these responses, Martin Lycka sat down with Rafael Marchetti Marcondes, Chief Legal Officer at Rei do Pitaco, on the Safe Bet Show.

Despite the changing mood in the country, Marcondes is confident the market will continue to grow.
