What is being said?
Stevens: “It’s interesting we opened on October 28th and obviously all the hupple with the grand opening was pretty great but now a month into it we’re starting to see how the property is performing and it’s been great. It has been busy on the weekends, certainly orientated towards football games and sporting events and I think we’re pretty happy with how things have played out so far.”
When asked how has sports betting come back since the shut down? Stevens replied: “It’s come back with vigor when baseball came back kind of first and you got hockey and you got basketball, it’s been really off the charts. Right now you’re looking at record sports handles in Nevada, but in all jurisdictions.”
Why should I watch it?
Few industry executives are better positioned to discuss the Las Vegas market and the growth of sports betting than Stevens who has been part of the Las Vegas movement since 2008.
His first investment was in the redevelopment of Golden Gate and since then he has been on a mission to revitalise downtown Las Vegas and transform the thriving Fremont Street entertainment experience.
His latest project Circa is the first new integrated resort casino built from the ground up in Downtown Las Vegas in four decades, Circa which opened October 28, 2020.
