They say there are only three constants in life: death, taxes and Paddy Power‘s marketing team.

The Irish-headquartered gambling operator has built a strong reputation beyond betting, with a recognisable marketing arm that has produced widely viewed, popular adverts for both traditional television and online.

Its latest campaign poked fun at Manchester City after the Premier League announced on 29 September, 2026 that an independent commission had found the club guilty of 114 of the 115 charges relating to breaches of the league’s financial rules.

According to the Premier League, the commission found City arranged “sham” contracts with commercial partners to artificially inflate the club’s revenue and reduce costs.

The Premier League said the commission also found City had filed “misstated” accounts, concealing “the true state of its finances from its auditors and football regulators”.

Paddy Power’s advert imagined how the Premier League’s lawyers would react to winning their case against City.

The ad is dubbed in Arabic, a possible nod to City Football Group‘s majority stakeholder Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It takes the form of a mock-news update showing a number of bewigged lawyers celebrating atop a party bus through the streets of Manchester, much as City has after winning major trophies.

City has maintained its innocence throughout the process, arguing it did nothing wrong, and has said it will appeal the commission’s ruling.
