In the latest episode of the Betfred Boxing Show, regular hosts Dom McGuinness and Anthony ‘Million Dolla’ Crolla were joined by DAZN reporter Ali Drew.

McGuiness in particular was quick to note DAZN’s extensive presence in the boxing space, with the firm having recently partnered with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing to broadcast a range of world title matches – including a selection of clashes at Eddie Hearn’s Fight Camp series of bouts.

Discussing DAZN’s coverage of the latest Fight Camp, Drew remarked that the event was  ‘totally different from anything else and was the perfect way to start the partnership between  DAZN and Matchroom’.

“Obviously it was DAZN’s first time doing the shows for Matchroom, and they went really well,” she stated. “We did the DAZN Boxing Show, so went live before the event started – it was like a festival down there, there were food stalls and a drinks tent, and it was a really good atmosphere down there.

“There wasn’t a huge crowd, there weren’t thousands of people, but there was a great vibe and it was a great way to introduce DAZN and Matchroom working together going forward.

Business was not the only topic of conversation, however, as both McGuinness and former lightweight world champion Crolla were eager to discuss last weekend’s boxing action, in particular the performance of Joshua Buatsi.

Commenting on Buatsi’s recent clash with Latvia’s Ričards Bolotņiks, which saw the the British fighter retain WBA International light-heavyweight title via 11th round TKO, Crolla argued that Buatsi had experienced ‘a great learning fight’.

“I thought that it was a great learning fight, a fight where he had to think about things and don’t have it all his own way, and a fight which bridges the gap from the British European level to the world stage.

“Bolotņiks is not new, we know him very well – he’s very strong and heavy handed and he had some success, but Buatsi ticked a good few boxes and I think they will look to push him towards a world title final or a final eliminator.”
