Boxing resumed last weekend across the pond, as Joe Smith Jr defended his world title with a stoppage win over Steve Geffrard.

It’s a win that Gareth A. Davies underlined puts him on a collision course with some of the biggest names in the division.

Speaking on William Hill’s The Final Round, he also detailed that the British contingent in the division will have a keen eye on what happens at the weight class, especially Anthony Yarde, as hard-hitting Londoner continues momentum after a big win over Lyndon Arthur last year.

Davies and David Alorka also both spoke enthusiastically about women’s boxing, with a plethora of big clashes coming on the horizon – most notably the megafight between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano, which would arguably be one of the biggest female fights of all time.

The show concluded by looking at the purse bids for Dillian Whyte and Tyson Fury, as Davies detailed that he thinks the bids for the all-British battle could be delayed once again. However, he added that once the heavyweight showdowns are locked in, the schedule will truly start to take place.
