The “underestimated” online sports betting vertical can compete with online casino in the igaming sphere according to GR8 Tech’s Chief Business Development Officer, Yevhen Krazhan.
Speaking to Viktor Kayed, Senior Journalist for SBC News, Krazhan said: “Sports are not getting less popular. Sports betting is growing and becoming more familiar for operators, especially amongst the casino [operators].
“Sport was underestimated for some time, especially in the digital space, but I think we are making that breakthrough and sports [betting] should be a strong competitor to casino in the igaming space.”
Part of the challenge of offering a sportsbook platform is the changing needs of clients across different regions. Krazhan spoke about the importance of being “geo-specific” with its offering.
“We are providing packages that should be adapted for each country,” he explained. “It’s not only about localisation, it is understanding how to engage clients and make [their] players engaged and this is through the selection of sports and understanding what is interesting where.
“For instance, we are showcasing our Africa success case with Mojabet and in Africa it should be simplified with a light front-end so it works at lightning speed. In India, we have been probably the best in the world in terms of cricket coverage and proposition.
“You have to adjust your sportsbook proposition depending on where you go, and therefore we are packaging it into a geo-specific solution.”
A region that was on the tip of every company’s tongue currently is Latin America, as Brazil stands on the brink of a new regulated online gaming market.
GR8 Tech has its own ambitions to grow in LatAm and the firm furthered these ambitions in August when it was granted a B2B gaming supplier licence in Peru by the country’s Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism.
“For the past couple of years [Latin America] was our focus,” said Krazhan. “We’re present in Brazil and we have received our B2B licence [in Peru] and we are supporting our clients that already have a regulated licence.
“We’re also supporting Chilean clients and we also have ambitions in Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador and Argentina, [in both] regulated and pre-regulated if the market allows. We come from the B2C DNA and we have the culture of going big through sponsorships and through local partnerships.”
