Integrity is a constant talking point within gaming as the sector faces increased scrutiny, however, there is “no silver bullet” to fix the issue according to BETER’s CEO, Gal Ehrlich.
Speaking to Fernando Noodt, Senior Journalist for SBC Noticias, Ehrlich detailed how integrity is both “mandatory” and something that encompasses every aspect of the company.
He said: “Integrity is the whole process, from how you involve the players and do the tests to find if it is the right player for you, how you do the matchups, how you track human behaviour and how you act on that.
“We believe that this is one of our sources of success and you see the reflection in the numbers. If integrity is not perfect, you’ll see the margin going down and you will see turnover and [gross gaming revenue] go down.”
Esports boom
Ehrlich also spoke about the “significant growth” of the esports sector, especially sports simulator-type games such as efootball and ebasketball.
“For a few good reasons this [segment] is even overperforming many of the traditional esports,” he explained.
“First of all, it’s 24/7 and the dynamic is a fast betting product, so you can put the bets on and settle it in one to five minutes. Players love it because they can bet more and are very much engaged in the game and can place several bets during the duration.
“Operators love it because the amount of betting taking place reduces the volatility that you see in traditional sports. It’s very much like a casino, so you can predict the margin for the end of the month and it’s very stable.
“The audience is growing year by year, so you see more players and the indicators are very positive for this.”
Esports have traditionally been enjoyed by a younger demographic. However, Ehrlich noted that this is changing as older players who traditionally favoured regular spots are beginning to “build confidence in esports”.
Latin America
An area that continues to grow is Latin America and BETER has recently acquired a license for the Peruvian market. Speaking on the region, Ehrlich explained that he welcomes growing regulation as it will help to build trust in BETER’s products.
He said: “Having more regulation might be another obstacle to address but looking for the long-term, I think it’s a very positive thing.
“In every regulated market, there is some taxation and some regulation and more effort is needed but eventually it will pay off big time because the people in [Latin America] will learn to trust this product because they know it’s governed and regulated.”
