Hello and welcome to the SBC News 90, here’s today’s top stories:

Svenska Spel has extended its partnership with the Swedish Sports Federation, with the deal now set to run until the end of 2022.

Under the terms of the agreement, Svenska Spel will finance a full-time position at the Sports Federation as the two partners continue to fight match-fixing and together seek funds for Sweden’s sports organisations.

The two-year deal is worth 42 million swedish kroner – around 4 million euros – and kicks off on 1 January 2021.

Nigel Huddleston, Minister for Sport, Tourism and Heritage, and UK Gambling Commission Chief Executive, Neil McArthur, have both shown their support of Safer Gambling Week.

Taking place on 19 to the 25 of November, Safer Gambling Week 2020 is led by the Betting and Gaming Council, The Bingo Association and trade association BACTA

During the week, operators will promote safer gambling messages and branding in venues – where open – as well as online and on social media.

Japan is reportedly to relax COVID-19 restrictions to allow athletes to travel to the country to train and compete in the rescheduled Tokyo Olympics next year.

Visiting competitors from countries currently prohibited from travelling to Japan will have to prove they have had a negative Coronavirus test and be re-tested upon arrival to ensure they haven’t contracted the virus during their journey.

Athletes will be required to monitor their health in the first two weeks after arrival in Japan and save GPS data on their smartphones to help with contact tracing.

The plans are expected to be finalised after government representatives meet with the country’s Olympic organising committee later this week.

That’s all for today, I’ll be back tomorrow for your next SBC News 90.
