Hello and welcome to the SBC News 90, here’s the top stories of the day:

A legal row is brewing between Italy’s ADM customs and monopolies agency and overseas online gambling operators regarding licence extensions.

Italy’s Senate has refused to review two separate appeals to extend online betting, casino and bingo concessions for a further 18-months, to December 2022.

Overseas operators are seeking clarity as to how licence extensions will be granted by the ADM and whether the matter will be covered by the government’s next Budget.

GVC Holdings has retained its position on the ‘FTSE4Good Index following its annual review of corporate practices.

FTSE4Good was launched in 2001 to track the performance of listed firms’ environmental, social and governance standards.

For instance, GVC’s carbon emissions data has been verified by The Carbon Trust, achieving the ‘Carbon Management Standard’. The accreditation demonstrates progress towards the group’s ongoing objective of reducing its environmental footprint.

The UK government is to introduce a new scheme that would allow consumers to receive cashback from a store without making a purchase.

The scheme hopes to harness the same creative thinking that has driven innovation in digital payments to maintain the UK’s cash circulation and ensure people can easily access cash in their local area.

In the UK, cash back is a popular method for withdrawing money, accounting for the second-largest amount withdrawn after ATMs.
