This week’s slate of NFL games is yet to be completed, however, attention has already turned to week seven of the NFL season.

On The Hot Read, Action Network’s NFL betting analyst Brandon Anderson offered his tips for next week’s fixtures.

Hammer the under

Starting with the opening game of the round on Thursday night between the Denver Broncos and the New Orleans Saints, Anderson called for punters to take the under on the total points scored in the game, currently set at 37.5.

The Saints’ defence got “lit up” in a 51-27 defeat to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last time out, however, Anderson doesn’t believe the Broncos have the firepower to do the same with their “check down” offence.

Anderson said: “The Saints’ defence has been pretty good this year and the Denver offence is in the bottom eight for running and passing offensively. They had no points until the fourth quarter against the [Denver] Chargers so I don’t see a big number from them.”

Bettors should also be looking for the same number for Anderson’s next pick, which is under 37.5 total points for the New York Jets vs Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday Night Football.

“Defences are good an offences are not good” for both sides,” according to Anderson, which sets the scenes for a low-scoring game.

He added: “Pittsburgh’s defence has been great. [New York Jets quarterback] Aaron Rodgers is not moving that well and the Jets have been pretty committed to the run game. Pittsburgh’s run defence is especially good and since their opening game, the Jets have allowed 13 points per game.

“I think this is a defence game and I think both teams just want to run the football so that is a speedy clock.”

Washington is the “real deal”

Finishing off his early preview, Anderson tipped the 4-2 record Washington Commanders to score over 1.5 touchdowns, or over 15.5 points, in their game against the Carolina Panthers.

The Panthers, who have registered just one win this season so far, have allowed over 24 points per game in the first half during all five of their losses. Meanwhile, Anderson described the Washinton Commanders’ offence as “the real deal” and predicts that it will “put up points” against the struggling Panthers defence.

Last time out, the Panthers lost 38-20 to the Atlanta Falcons, who scored 22 points in the first half.
