Paddy Power has announced a “justice payout” after Alexander Isak’s goal was incorrectly ruled out by video match officials.

The Swedish international appeared to have scored his country’s fourth in an eventual 6-0 rout of Azerbaijan, however, he was deemed to be offside – leaving punters “speechless”.

It later emerged that VAR had drawn the lines at the wrong moment, catching Isak in an offside position even though it was his teammate, Viktor Gyokeres, who was receiving the ball.

Following the game, Paddy Power posted on X: “Justice payout. After an offside decision even PGMOL would be ashamed of, we’re paying out on all anytime goalscorer bets on Alexander Isak vs Azerbaijan.”

According to the Swedish Herald, Isak revealed that he and his teammates were left remonstrating with the VAR officials in the player’s tunnel at half-time about the blunder.

He said: “How is that possible? Seriously. It’s almost the worst I’ve seen. I’m happy, of course, that we win, but I score a goal that should be allowed, then it’s clear that you get annoyed.

“I don’t think I’ve ever experienced anything like this at this level when I’ve been involved. You’ve seen a lot of mistakes, but this one was pretty rough. The VAR referees stood in the player tunnel at halftime. We argued with them, but they stuck to their decision that they had made the right call.”

As mentioned, Sweden won the game 6-0, with the would-be assister Gyokeres scoring four goals and Tottenham forward Dejan Kulusevski also picking up a brace. The result ensured Sweden won their UEFA Nations League C Group 1.

Paddy Power finds Jake Paul’s next opponent

Following Jake Paul’s victory over Mike Tyson, many have speculated about what’s next for the ‘problem child’.

Ahead of the fight, Paddy Power teamed up with Tony Bellew, former WBC Cruiserweight World Champion, to look for Paul’s next fight in an unusual proving ground.

In a clip posted on the brand’s YouTube channel, Bellew is shown ‘training’ a group of pensioners, claiming that “Jake Paul is always on about fighting old lads”.

Bellew was also subsequently thrown out of the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson press conference, alongside one of the pensioners, for ranting at Paul – who appeared unmoved by the disturbance.
