Sky Sports pundits Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville disagreed over their predictions for Liverpool’s clash with Arsenal this weekend at Anfield.

Debating the weekend’s Premier League clash on the latest episode of the Sky Bet podcast ‘Stick to Football’, the former Liverpool and Manchester United defenders respectively, had differing opinions on the weekend’s standout fixture.

Both sides have enjoyed winning starts, with Arsenal triumphing over Man United and Leeds without conceding, whilst the reigning league champions beat Bournemouth on the opening day before edging an epic encounter against Newcastle United in the 10th minute of added time.

The two teams remain many people’s pick to win the title, with this early-season meeting a chance for either side to lay down a marker in what is likely to be a long and entertaining title race.

Ahead of the game, the podcast panel previewed the game, as Carragher listed two key reasons why Liverpool will be victorious on the weekend. “Liverpool have got to win with the injuries you’ve got. Saka is your best player, he’s out, isn’t he?” Carragher replied before predicting Liverpool to win 2-1.

“I think Arsenal will score, I’m going to go Liverpool 2-1.

“Think about how bad Arsenal were against Man United. If Arsenal are like they were at Man United, Liverpool win the game. No Saka, No Odegaard.”

Neville’s opinion was of the opposite thinking, highlighting the strength of Mikel Arteta’s side’s set-piece strength. “I think Arsenal score two from set-pieces. Liverpool will score one, it will be 2-1 Arsenal.”

The important team news revolves around Arsenal missing key figures such as Bukayo Saka and captain Martin Odegaard. However, they will be bolstered by the arrival of former Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze, who is primed to make his debut and replace the attacking creativity lost by those two absences.

For Liverpool, there’s hope that key midfield figure Alexis Mac Allister can return after missing the win over Newcastle, but Jeremie Frimpong won’t be available after a hamstring issue.
