Paddy Power’s marketing machine has done it again.

The Flutter Entertainment-owned gambling giant has carved a reputation for itself as content leaders, utilising a host of famous faces and intriguing concepts to promote their platform.

Their latest ad sees boxing promoter Eddie Hearn poke fun at Paddy Power’s own marketing team as they team up to plan promotional events around Irish boxer Katie Taylor’s farewell fight at Croke Park.

The ad follows two ‘creatives’ pitching increasingly absurd activation ideas to Hearn. These include a Paddy Power branded hot air balloon, a Jedward-flanked ring walk, and a half-goat, half-Katie Taylor state in Dublin that one ‘creative’ said should look have, “the body of a goat, the face of Katie, but the mind of Katie as well”.

Paddy Power’s self-depricating approach to promotional content is one of the main reasons why the Irish gambling giant is able to stand out against major competitors. It’s become something of a Paddy Power staple to undercut its own brand presence for comic effect while still landing the sponsorship message.
