In a recent episode of the Legal Sports Report, the co-hosts discussed the legalisation of retail sports betting in the state of Maryland, described as a ‘robust’ market in comparison to other states.

What is being said?
“We are on the clock and we are going to have, as opposed to Florida, a robust market here,” Gouker commented: Everyone who wants to be in Maryland will be in Maryland and there is a limit to how many sportsbooks there can be, but it’s not a meaningful one.”
He added: “Maryland is going to be good. I can say that pretty confidently that we will have a robust market, and if you’re a sports bettor you will get all the major players and then some. We don’t quite have a timeline but I’d be shocked if you were not betting online for the Super Bowl next year.”
Brown remarked: “One of the things we’ve seen in other states as well, like in Arizona, in Maryland not only will casinos and racetracks be eligible for retail, but stadiums as well. We’ve yet to really see how this completely plays out, especially during an NFL season, to see how this could affect things, but we know that FedEx Field, the M&T Bank Stadium, and Camden Yards will all have sports books inside them all well.”
Why should I watch it?
To hear about sports betting developments in the US with an emphasis on the Mid-Atlantic state of Maryland, which recently legalised retail sports betting.
