The Betfred Boxing Show returned following an electric night in Leeds, which unfortunately ended in an anti-climax as Josh Warrington’s much-anticipated rematch with Mauricio Lara was called off due to a cut.
Anthony Crolla mapped out his prediction that the Leeds man will be back before a rematch – given how significant the cut was that was sustained by the Mexican.
Speaking to Betfred after the fight, Warrington emphasised that he would be bitterly disappointed to retire with the single unavenged defeat and a Brit to go and beat the hard-hitting Mexican.
Analysing the rest of the card in Leeds, Crolla also heaped praise on Katie Taylor, who he says will now be seeking legacy fights against the likes of Amanda Serrano.
Nonetheless, the star of the night according to Crolla and Dom McGuinness was the likable Maxi Hughes, who continued to turn his career around and write his own Cinderella story with a victory over the powerful Jovani Saffron.
The pair compared the story of Hughes to that of Crolla, as he has captured the imagination of British fight fans and battled his way up the ranks to fight for world honours.
Rounding off their review of the card, Dave Coldwell joined the show to discuss Hopey Price following his career-best win on Saturday night, as his Manager revealed he is aiming to stay active and get out before the end of the year.
He also emphasised that he isn’t going to rush Price when it comes to capturing titles and caliber of opponents – as he aims for Price to continue getting the rounds under the belt.
Looking ahead the show also delved into the upcoming megafights between Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua, as well as the clash at super-middleweight as Canelo finally takes on Caleb Plant, in arguably the biggest challenge out there for the pound-for-pound king.
