Under David Moyes, West Ham United have started the season in spectacular fashion, storming to fourth in the Premier League and notching up a 100% record in their Europa League group.
A plethora of Hammers have stood out so far this season, with Declan Rice thriving in midfield, Michail Anthonio firing home goals for fun and Pablo Fornals striking fear into defenses all over the country.
Speaking to William Hill, Paul McCarthy revealed that he never would have believed the Irons would be where they are now last year, lauding the ‘absolutely sensational job’ done by Moyes.
Continuing in his praise for the gaffer, he stated: “The fact is, he has the trust of the owners now. It never felt like he had the full trust of the owners before, but I think they realised the mistake they’d made in getting rid of him and he has shown what a great manager he is.
“He’s packed the team with very, very good players – all working to a system that they are comfortable with and that they know all about and they are confident with.”
He then went on to single out the keeper, Fabianski, highlighting that he has brought solidity and confidence to the Irons’ defense.
Moyes’ side take on Genk this evening as they look to book their place in the knockout phases of the Europa League, before a massive clash with the Premier League’s standout side so far this season, Liverpool on Sunday.
