Celebrating ‘Twosday’ (22/02/22) William Hill brought together Gareth A Davies and David Alorka for a special edition of the Final Round, in which they picked out their favourite second-round stoppages of all time.

Delving into heavyweight history, Davies picked out George Foreman’s stoppage of Joe Frazier in a legendary battle in Jamaica. The fight was one of many defining ones for Foreman as he took ‘Smoking Joe’ apart and dropped him numerous times on his way to capturing heavyweight glory.

The journalist’s second choice also sees two legends collide, as he picked out Thomas Hearns and Roberto Duran, who went to war in 1984.

Again, it produced a defining victory for one of the combatants – with ‘The Hitman’ hammering Duran in a concussive victory for the rangey Detroit puncher.

Iron Mike also made the list, with Davies recalling his dramatic knockout of Trevor Berbick as one of the best ever – when he laid claim to the WBC heavyweight crown and further cemented his legacy as one of the most lethal punchers to ever grace the squared circle.
