CBS Sports: Experts pick favourites for March Madness

March Madness is one of the biggest college sporting events in the United States. It is for some, a first glimpse at the promising college basketball players in the country before they transition professionally into the NBA.

The NCAA tournament is a great feather in the cap for a young basketball player, with players such as Michael Jordan and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar winning the competition and improving their draft stock before the following draft.

After the first two rounds of this year’s NCAA tournament, Gonzaga sits as the current favourites to win it all closely followed by Kansas.

CBS Sports’ Chris Hassel is joined by analysts Chip Patterson and Gary Parrish to get their thoughts and opinions on which team will make it out of their respective region from the ‘Sweet 16’ round.

Both Patterson and Parrish resoundingly pick Gonzaga to make it out of the West region, as the Bulldogs possess one of the most exciting young players in the country; Chet Holmgren.

Whilst Patterson is backing Purdue to make it to the Final 4’ round and win the East region, Parrish opts for a different winner; UCLA.

Both men believe that Arizona and Houston are heading for a clash to decide the eventual winner of the South region. The number one seed in the South; Arizona, survived a near upset in the last round against the ninth seeded TCU.

Kansas are the overwhelming favourites to make it out of the Midwest region ahead of Miami, Providence and Iowa State. Both Patterson and Parrish echo this sentiment picking them to win their region.
