888sports ‘The Eye Test’: Determining the player of the season for each top six club

Another Premier League is drawing its curtains Sunday and there is a lot on the line for teams to play for.

One point separates Manchester City and Liverpool at the top of the table with the Premier League title on the line. At the foot of the table, Everton, Leeds United and Burnley are all fighting to stave off relegation.

What also coincides with the end of a league season is player of the year and team of the season awards. In that sense, 888sports’ ‘The Eye Test’, went through the top six teams in the league consisting of Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester United.

Man City’s best player of the season was split between two players; Bernardo Silva and Kevin De Bruyne. Despite Silva earning his plaudits around the table, De Bruyne’s brilliant form heading into the second half of the season gave him the nod, which was highlighted by panel member and City fan Steve McInerney.

There were a lot of candidates as to who Liverpool’s best player of the season is. Mohamed Salah rightfully deserves a shout, but Sadio Mane, Virgil van Dijk and Diogo Jota also received worthy nominations.

Chelsea fan and host Rory Jennings believes Mason Mount is undoubtedly Chelsea’s best performer throughout the season, and even went on to discuss why Chelsea are at the level of City and Liverpool just yet.

United fan Flex listed Cristiano Ronaldo and David De Gea as their only two best players during a bitterly disappointing season, even going on to satirically mention Fred as a player who performed ‘alright’.

The panel also had time to marvel at the underrated brilliance of Spurs’ Heung-Min Son and pondered over Arsenal’s best player as they play so well together as a team.
