Earlier this week Entain Plc (formerly GVC Holdings) announced its rebrand after being backed by 99.9% of company shareholders, who signed-off on the ‘new corporate charter’ proposing a series of new long-term sustainability objectives.

 What is it?

This week has been a busy one for Entain as the FTSE100 firm won Social Responsibility Sportsbook of the year at the SBC Awards and announced the firm’s new ‘Advanced Responsibility & Care’ (ARC) programme, which utalises proprietary-built safer gambling technologies to enhance player protection through additional checks as well as improved monitoring and interventions.

This morning Martin Lycka, Entain’s Senior Vice President of US Regulatory Affairs & Responsible Gambling, told SBC Noticias about the fast-moving developments for the FTSE100 betting group within Colombia.

The announcement stated that Entain expects to launch its Bwin sportsbook property for the regulated Colombian online gambling market next month. Having recently secured a Colombian online gambling licence by federal regulator Coljuegos, Lycka confirmed that Entain would push for an early 2021 market launch of its flagship Bwin sportsbook.

Following on from the flurry of announcements SBC managed to catch up with Entain’s Chief Executive Officer, Shay Segev, talking all things rebranding, sustainability, growth and social responsibility and much more.

“Clearly we can take this thing into a better customer experience in terms of providing better content to our customers but we also have the opportunity to use this data to make a more safer journey as well and this is exactly what ARC is all about; ‘Advance Responsibility and Care’. 

“What we’re trying to do is to develop algorithms that will tell us the probability of players who have harmful behaviour on our products and if we have that we can intervene and engage with that player to make sure they’re setting the right controls and in extreme cases we set the controls for them as well.”
