Betsson Group has launched its first Betsson Group Live episode featuring their CEO Jesper Svensson.
Betsson Group Live is Betsson’s own live video series featuring key employees within the business who will share their insights, views, and experiences of working at the online gambling company which is then shared with their social media audience.
In the first episode Alice Nordin, Employer Branding Specialist at Betsson Group, interviews CEO, Jesper Svensson, in a live Q&A.
When asked about what makes igaming so exciting for him, Svensson replied: “One of the reasons I think why I love this industry is the connection to sports. We really live and breathe sports and entertainment in general.
“We are in the digital entertainment industry. It’s not just entertainment, it’s also a growth industry and it’s in the forefront digitally. We have seen particularly this year how digitalisation in general in society has really moved forward and we are in the forefront of that.
“It’s a very exciting industry and it’s changing all the time, incredibly fast paced, there’s never a dull moment really.”
Over the course of the interview Svensson covers a plethora of topics such as his journey into industry, the geographical expansion of Betsson and the company’s diverse business offering.
Svensson also touched upon the company values: One Betsson, Fair Play and Passion, which is the home for their Local Community Engagement, Responsible Gaming, and Partnerships initiatives. On their website it even states: “To us, offering gaming in a responsible and controlled way is fundamental. It’s the only way to run a business with happy, healthy customers who enjoy our products, decade after decade.”
Starting with the Fair Play initiative Svensson talked about what each company initiative means to him commenting: “We should always be fair to not just ourselves but to everyone within the company of course, to our customers, stakeholders we need to have the highest degree of integrity and responsibility how we operate.
“Passion is what really drives us forward, it’s our enthusiasm, it’s our ambition and One Betsson for me is the overarching value that holds it all together. Going back to 60 different nationalities which is incredibly powerful if you can get the best out of all those different nationalities you can create something magic.
“One Betsson holds that all together. It’s about the diversity, it’s about keeping an open mind, being supportive and being a team player and that is the glue within the organisation.”
Reflecting on some highlights from Betsson’s 2020, Svensson commented: “In a year that was incredibly challenging for everyone in the world, we stood out from a business point of view.
“It was digitalisation in general got a push forward and we are at the forefront of that. It moved our business forward in the sense that gaming saw a transition from land-based to digital and we were benefiting from that. I think for being such a tough year we delivered a very good year from a business point of view.
“One thing I am really proud about is that we managed to go from being a company where everyone works in the office everyday to being almost fully remote.
“We switched our ways of working and that worked out really well, we were able to be efficient under new circumstances and I think it’s also testament to the company and to this industry, that you have to be always ready to move fast because changing conditions are happening all the time.”
