‘Fundamental difference in data between traditional and esports’ – Martin Dachselt, Bayes Esports

Martin Dachselt, CEO of Bayes Esports underlined the differences between data usage in esports and traditional sports, the importance of using official data and the risks of using unofficial data, as well as the main advantages of using Bayes Esports data services.

It comes as he caught up with SBC Media’s Erin Gallagher at last year’s SBC Summit North America 2021 at the Meadowlands in New Jersey.

Dachselt revealed the differences between data usage in esports and traditional sports, the importance of using official data and the risks of using unofficial data, as well as the main advantages of using Bayes Esports data services.

“You might see that they are scraping data and integrating mechanisms against that, then you might need to look on a new source,” commented Dachselt on the risk of using unofficial data.

“During a world championship, you suddenly lose access to the data and that is a big part of your business, so your customer will be unhappy. We all know that customer acquisition costs are very high in the betting industry, so why risk using cheaper data to risk that your customer will be unhappy and lose all your customer acquisition costs.”

Dachselt then dived into the advantage points of using Bayes esports databases.

“We are really focused on official live data. We do not scrape data, we do not sell manual scouted data. We sell only data that is official, most time exclusive in distribution to all of our partners.”

“We have a solid and market-proven distribution platform. Some, nearly all big bookmakers use some of our data. So if you look at bet365, 888bet, sportradar, nobody which has a big esports betting spend is not using our data.”

Dachselt also spoke about the US market, Bayes Esports’ entrance into it, notable differences in the US, and why they decided to exhibit at SBC Summit North America.
