FanDuel ‘Quick Hits’: Favorites for the 2022/23 NFL MVP

With the 2022/23 NFL season due to get underway in as little as two months, FanDuel took a quick look at who they believe can take home the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award come the end of the regular season.

The FD sportsbook analyst broke down her favorite three candidates that bettors should keep an eye on, with an obvious candidate coming in first in the form of Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen

Allen led his team to the third seed last season and reached the AFC Divisional Playoff round before falling short to the Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes. Allen excelled in the postseason, achieving a 149.0 passer rating, an all-time record in a single NFL postseason, beating the previous record set by Joe Montana (164.4).

Coming in as a the second favorite to win NFL MVP is a player many regard as the ‘GOAT’, Tom Brady. Brady initially announced his retirement at the end of the last season, but swiftly reverted to suit up again for the Tampa Bay Bucaneers

Despite turning 45-years-old in August, the seven-time SuperBowl and three-time MVP champion was still able to throw 5300 passing yards, as well as throwing for 43 touchdowns. Brady may not have long-time friend and tight end Rob Gronkowski by his side next season, No.12 has proved to people time and time again to not bet against him.

Lastly, FD threw out its ‘longshot’ candidate for the MVP award; the Indianapolis Colts running back Jonthan Taylor. With the MVP award dominated by quarterbacks since its inception, if Taylor were to win the award he would be the first non-quarterback to win since Adrian Peterson in 2012.

Last season was a season of ‘firsts’ for Taylor, first All-Pro team, first Pro-Bowl appearance, and the first time leading the league in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns.
