Ahead of the Betfred World Matchplay kicking off this weekend in Blackpool, Peter Wright told the operator just how much it meant to him to capture the crown last year. 

The darting icon underlined that the standard of players this year means he is going to need to replicate his incredible form last year that allowed him to land one of dart’s top prizes. 

Specifically underlining the form of Wright was his dramatic semi-final victory over Michael Van Gerwen, with it being a game that emphasised just how much his confidence has arisen. 

When it comes to Blackpool, Wright described his belief that the place is a home for true darts fans, who also love to party and create a fantastic atmosphere and setting for the tournament.
