FanDuels’ ‘Run It Back’: Are the Cavaliers contenders in the East?

The latest episode of FanDuels’ NBA programme, ‘Run It Back’, posed the question, just how good are the Cleveland Cavaliers this season?

Hosts Michelle Beadle, Eddie Gonzalez and Shams Charania were joined in this latest episode with nine-year NBA veteran Chandler Parsons, to discuss the Cavaliers ceiling after their impressive start to the new NBA season.

Despite not having starting point guard Darius Garland at their disposal, the ‘Cavs’ are currently 5-1 to start the season, winning their last five in a row and sitting second in the Eastern conference standings.

Gonzalez believes Cleveland is a dark horse in the East, with much of this early success boiling down to the impressive form of All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell, who joined the Cavaliers this past offseason from the Utah Jazz in a blockbuster trade.

Mitchell, who this season is averaging 32pts, 4reb, 7ast, has been filling in at the point guard position for the injured Garland, but Charania wants to see the two dynamic guards in the same backcourt and how they co-exist.

Parsons highlights Cavs coach J.B Bickerstaff as the ‘best coach he’s ever had’, revealing that in conversation with Bickerstaff that the young team is having fun, working selflessly and getting the crowd involved at all times.

FanDuel sportsbook listed the Cavaliers as +3300 outsiders to win this year’s NBA championship before the start of the season.
