Booming Games has released Ronaldinho Spins, a title dedicated to the Brazil and FC Barcelona icon Ronaldinho.
Before unveiling the title, Nemanja Živić, Head of Games at Booming Games, and Moritz Blume, Director of Product at Booming Games, sat down with Focus Gaming News Host, Joe Foley, to give a behind-the-scenes look at how the partnership came about and the development of the slot title.
It is an exciting time for the Brazilian industry with the imminent opening of the country’s regulated iGaming market and Blume said that the timing of the release is a “happy coincidence”.
The Director of Product added: “We’ve been focusing heavily on the Brazilian market and South America as a whole. Our commitment to this region has always been strong as we see a lot of potential and passion from the audience. We got this amazing chance to partner with Ronaldinho, one of the biggest idols not just in South America but worldwide.
“His legendary status aligns perfectly with our goals and our desire to bring top-tier entertainment to our audience.”
Živić also outlined the process of including Ronaldinho within the slot and the desire of Booming Games to “get the player fully immersed” by adding in voice-overs to make the player feel they are in an interactive football game.
Ronaldinho Spins begins in the base game, where the Ronaldinho Wild can appear on reels two, three and four. When it lands, it expands to cover the entire reel, with a max win potential of 5,000x the player’s preferred stake.
Landing at least three Scatters triggers 12 Free Spins with major symbol upgrades. Every time a Wild lands, symbols get upgraded to boost the payouts, plus for unlimited kicks the Free Spins can be retriggered. Additional Free Spins can be won when three or more Scatters land while the Bonus plays out.
Football is ingrained within the culture of South America and Blume described how incorporating a figure like Ronaldinho into a slot can be a great way for Booming Games to “reach players in [South America]” and also diversify the developer’s portfolio.
Both Blume and Živić confirmed that Ronaldinho Spins is just the first game in a series of titles to feature the Ronaldinho and the company will release one additional Ronaldinho game this year.
Živić added: “We want a portfolio that touches on all mechanics and themes. Sports games are very tricky to make. I think this is a great platform for us and I think we did a great job.
“We’re going to extend it further and explore future avenues of how we can expand the gameplay and connect Ronaldinho again to the win potential. We have quite a few ideas about how this will pan out in the future and within the expansion of our existing portfolio.”
