Aston Villa have announced a new partnership ahead of next season, confirming a deal with Xapo Bank.
Operating globally, the company is licensed as a virtual asset currency provider by the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission and their mission is to secure financial freedom for our members by providing them with a better way to hold, access, and grow their Bitcoin wealth.
The Bitcoin-first financial institution is one of the world’s oldest Bitcoin custodians and is a fully licensed bank offering wealth growth opportunities. They will also serve as the Official Pre-Season Tour Partner, supporting Aston Villa’s 2025 tour of the United States, which begins July 26.
Included in their plans are to promote the company featuring prominent in-stadium branding on match days, including pitchside LED boards and dugout headrests.
Adrian Filby, Chief Commercial Officer of Aston Villa, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Xapo, an organisation whose vision for success aligns with Aston Villa’s long-term strategic thinking.
“They are at the leading edge of Bitcoin, and we look forward to enjoying a close and fruitful relationship where both parties can benefit from growth and exposure.”
Seamus Rocca, CEO of Xapo Bank, said: “Aston Villa is a club on the rise; ambitious and unafraid to challenge the status quo. And that is the same mentality we have here at Xapo. Like Villa, we’re not chasing fleeting headlines.
“We see Bitcoin as grounded in undeniable performance, built for the future. We’re focused on playing the long game and building something that lasts. Together, we’re bringing the promise of Bitcoin to a global stage, one fan at a time.”
Writing on their website, they further detailed their reasonings behind the deal, citing it as a ‘pivotal moment‘ in their growth strategy. “Football and finance have always shared common ground: both require vision, strategy, and the courage to play the long game.
“Today, we’re thrilled to announce that Xapo Bank has become an official partner of Aston Villa Football Club, uniting one of the Premier League’s most successful clubs with a pioneering bitcoin and banking app renowned for its best-in-class security.
“This collaboration marks a pivotal moment in our growth strategy, extending our reach to Aston Villa’s extraordinary global fan base of millions of people whilst strengthening our presence in the UK market.”
Having enjoyed one of the club’s best seasons for years, the team, led by the highly-respected Unai Emery, are looking to build on an enthralling run to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, a semi-final in the FA Cup and sixth-place finish in the Premier League.
The 2025-26 campaign will see them compete in the UEFA Europa League which will bring a strong level of revenue into the club and Xapo Bank will be front and centre of the rising club who have been continually building towards success across the past few years.
