As boxing embarks on a stellar period with the start of Fight Camp, Anthony Crolla and Dom McGuinness united to preview this Saturday’s card, which is headlined by Leigh Wood’s attempt to dethrone Can Xu.
Nonetheless, it was the card’s opening bout that Crolla picked to steal the show as Jack Cullen, who is never in a bad fight, takes a step up against former Canelo foe, Avni Yildirim.
Power punching Anthony Fowler also returns on the card and Crolla teased a ‘very big fight’, should he get through the clash, against German Rico Mueller.
Promoter Eddie Hearn has previously emphasised he’s open to making a bout between Merseyside rivals, Liam Smith and Fowler, one that undoubtedly enlivens the appetite of fans and pundits alike.
Saturday’s card also provides Leigh Wood with an opportunity of a lifetime as he looks to capture world honours against the undefeated Can Xu, who was previously lined up to collide with Josh Warrington.
Courtesy of Matchroom, Nottinghamshire’s Wood stated on the Betfred Boxing Show that ‘he’s trying to enjoy the experience but not get wrapped up in how big it is and what is at stake’ as he tries to take the pressure off.
