PointsBet’s Canadian subsidiary, PointsBet Canada, has signed its latest commercial partnership, branching out of the traditional sports sectors into the entertainment space.

The new multi-year agreement has been clinched with the popular Canadian mockumentary sitcom Trailer Park Boys, with the duo collaborating on the production of ‘authentic content’ across the betting brand’s Canadian channels.

Additionally, the three main characters of the show – Ricky, Julian and Bubbles – will feature in PointsBet advertising campaigns, activations and VIP-style events.

“Our mission from day one has been to build a sportsbook as authentically Canadian as poutine,” said Nic Sulsky, Chief Commercial Officer of PointsBet Canada.

“And nothing says Canadiana more than the Trailer Park Boys. We are thrilled to have Bubbles, Ricky, and Julian join Canada’s Sportsbook to bring fans a new, innovative experience.”

Although founded in Australia, PointsBet has become a key player in the North American sports betting sector, operating in Colorado, New Jersey, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, West Virginia, and Virginia.

The company is now looking to capitalise on the legalisation of Canadian sports betting – a development which has prompted much discussion in the international gambling industry, with some pointing to Ontario as a highly lucrative market

“Whether it is Curling Canada, the NHLAA, or the Trailer Park Boys, we are committed to building a brand and identity that acknowledges the little intricacies that make us all proud to be Canadian,” commented David Rivers, Vice-President of Marketing for PointsBet Canada.

South of the Canada-US border, PointsBet is also due to initiate operations in New York as one of nine operators permitted licences in the Empire State by the New York State Gambling Commission (NYSGC), with the firm’s launch currently pending.

Meanwhile, Trailer Park Boys similarly expanded to become a popular comedy franchise both domestically and internationally since it first premiered in 2001, spawning 12 seasons and three feature films.

The show gained a following for its portrayal of the three trailer park residents as they embark on a consistently disastrous series of criminally minded misadventures, prompting character Julian to comment on the deal with PointsBet: “It’s great to finally have a legit job with such a cool company. I’m proud of myself.”

Echoing his fellow Sunnyvale Trailer Park resident, Bubbles remarked: “I’m very excited to be teaming up with PointsBet Canada. I get to meet all kinds of cool Canadian athletes and everything will be totally legal which is a new thing for Ricky and Julian. I think it’s fantastic.”

Lastly, with trademark intelligence, Ricky added: “As a proudest Canadian, I think it’s really flattering being asked to be part of this. This celebrates Canadian sports and I can’t wait to meet a bunch of our bestest in the world athletes.”
