The NFL season is heating up as teams make a push for the playoff spots.
The Washington Commanders travel to the Philadelphia Eagles to kick off the action on Thursday Night Football, before a full slate of Sunday fixtures, followed by the Houston Texans and Dallas Cowboys concluding the action on Monday Night Football.
Ahead of the weekend, Jason Logan was joined by the host of the Bet the Board podcast, Todd Fuhrman, on the latest episode of Covers’ Sharp 600 to break down all the best bets.
Thursday Night Football
The Washington Commanders are three-point underdogs heading into the game against the Philadelphia Eagles, and Logan expects the team to struggle on offence, backing them to fall below its team total of 22.5, currently at -104.
Logan explained: “I’m going to say Washington doesn’t put up a whole lot of points in this one. I like what I’m seeing from the Eagles defence. Vic Fangio, [Philadelphia Eagles’ Defensive Coordinator], teams usually take a while to get their legs under them and I think it’s starting to click right now.
“It’s Vic Fangio against a rookie quarterback off a short week on the road so I think they play a little keep-away on offence and park [Jayden] Daniels and the [Washington Commanders] offence.”
Anytime Touchdown
Next up were anytime touchdown bets, and the duo’s picks were Nick Chubb (+105), running back for the Cleveland Browns, and the Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins (+110).
On Chubb’s selection, Logan cited that he is facing a New Orleans Saints side that is “dreadful” against the run, giving up five rushing touchdowns in their last five games and the second most throughout the season.
Meanwhile, Collins is returning from injury to take on the Dallas Cowboys whose secondary “leaves a lot to be desired”, according to Fuhrman.
He added: “CJ Stroud will benefit from having his primary target back in the fold. They’ll target Nico early, they’ll target him often and they’ll target him for a touchdown.”
Chiefs, Browns and Herbert
Sunday’s selection of fixtures is headlined by a mouthwatering clash between the in-form Buffalo Bills and the as-yet unbeaten Kansas City Chiefs.
Despite having an unblemished record, the Chiefs go into the game as +2.5 underdogs which has caught the eye of Logan.
He said: “When I look at this matchup, I give the Chiefs the nod on offence and defence. The Bills defence, [despite] winning five games in a row, is haemorrhaging yardage. This bend do not break philosophy is playing with fire against Patrick Mahomes.”
Elsewhere, Fuhrman urges punters to buy the “well-rested” Browns, who are coming off a bye and are currently +1.5 underdogs against the Saints.
The duo also suggest it could be a big week for the Los Angeles Chargers Justin Herbert. They back the quarterback to throw for over 1.5 passing touchdowns (+110) against a Cincinnati Bengals team that have given up the sixth most passing touchdowns in the league this season.
