As one of the most anticipated weeks in golf commences, Simon Dyson joined the Betfred Golf Show to discuss where the Ryder Cup will be won and lost.
Dyson was keen to emphasise the depth of the US team, as he described it as ‘on paper – the strongest US team he has ever seen’.
He added just how important it is that this US teams has embraced the winning mentality, with a plethora of their squad going into this tournament off the back of having already earned honours this year.
“The American players, the American crowd, the captain and the vice captain – I think they will believe this is their time to get it back,” Dyson stated as he lauded the credentials of the US side.
Nonetheless, the one potential fault of a star-studded US squad comes in the form of their lack of experience, however, Dyson stated his belief that this is something they can overcome with the success they have already had.
In terms of the European side, Dyson lauded Jon Rahm, somebody who he believes can have a big impact on the team’s efforts as he backed him and Viktor Hovland to the top scorer..
When it comes to the overall betting, Dyson stated that although many are predicting American domination, he revealed he is predicting a close tournament.
Nonetheless, he outlined that he can’t see beyond the tournament heading to the US, although the Europeans have previously thrived as the underdog and have a better team camaraderie.
Pushed for a score, he only just managed to split the two sides, backing the US to win 15-13, by the narrowest of margins – as ‘the best event in golf’ kicks off on Friday and commences a bumper period for fans of the sport.
