In the latest from betway, cricketers Jason Roy, Reece Topley and Laurie Evans sat down to discuss character traits across their teammates.
Asked about who has influenced their game the most, Evans pointed to Hash Amia, saying that he’s been a “calming influence over the dressing room”.
Roy agreed with Evans, adding that they’re “blessed” for having international players, naming Kumar Sangakarra, Hash, Ricky Ponting and Graeme Smith.
When the players were tasked to point to a teammate that they’d trust their lives to with a catch, Roy said: “I’m going to put CJ (Chris Jordan) up there. Stick a high ball up there, he’s got good mitts on him.”
Evans then turned to Roy and noted that he thinks he’s “pretty good” too, to which Roy answered: “Take a catch, just do my job mate.”
On who’s the best at the bleep test, Roy said: “Arun Harinath, from my experience, was unbelievable. Joe Root could just run for absolute days.”
The interviewer then asked the trio who they think comes last out of the nets, which they unanimously gave Ben Fokes as an answer.
Topley said: “Popey’s another long one. It takes a long time. Especially when we’re travelling everywhere on coaches at the minute and we’re having to wait for Popey and Foakesy to wrap up their hits.”
Going into the dressing room and who has the most outrageous gear, Roy commented; “There’s a range of genres in that changing room, let’s say that. And I think everyone rocks it.”
On Topley’s remark that he thinks it’s Fokes, Roy added: “Do you know what annoys me more about him though? He’s so good-looking, and then he just puts his gear on.”
The players did not hesitate to throw a bit more dirt on their teammates, with Roy branding Ollie Pope as a “messy puppy” when talking about how tidy he is. Evans also added Sam Billings to the list of “messiest people” he knows.
