Paddy Power’s Fan Denial was quick off the mark to magnify the emotive social responses of England fans following the dramatic final defeat to Italy. 

The game saw the Three Lions take an early lead and the faith of fans became elevated before an equaliser from Leonardo Bonucci led to the game heading to penalties, as England fans projected their passion onto social media. 

As the game grew into extra time, the operator shone a light on the emotional rollercoaster endured by England fans, with many calling for a red card for Jorginho or  Giorgio Chiellini. 

As Gareth Southgate’s side fell short in a penalty shootout, the notion was even put forward that England are the Tottenham of international football.
