As the Premier League returned in style, 888Sport brought together Steven McInerney of Manchester City Fan Channel, EsteemedKompany, Chelsea fan and YouTuber Rory Jennings and comedian Stevo The Mad Man, as they discussed whether Chelsea and Manchester City are ‘big clubs’.

It comes as the two teams commence this campaign as favourites to capture the Premier League crown, having clashed in the Champions League final last season.

In what grew into a heated debate, Jennings argued that Manchester City not being able to fill the Etihad Stadium on a Premier League matchday as evidence for them not being a ‘big club’.

However, McInerney highlighted the quality of the team and the fact that they have one of the world’s most decorated managers in the dugout as being further evidence that the current champions are a ‘big club’.

Jenning went onto state his belief that there’s a difference between being relevant and being elite, adding that he feels the conversation around whether City are a ‘big club’ could be different in a few years time.

City continue the defence of their title as they look to bounce back from an opening day defeat against Spurs with a battle against newly promoted Norwich. Meanwhile, Chelsea look to continue their perfect start as they collide with London rivals Arsenal on Saturday evening.
