It was an action-packed weekend for British punters, as Emma Raducanu wrote the final chapter of a monumental underdog story with her US Open win.

Prior to the tournament, Raducanu was priced at around 400/1 and was given virtually no chance of claiming top honours at the tournament. However, after a rousing final performance, the 18-year-old cemented her spot amongst British tennis royalty with an incredible win.

As the tournament approached the semi-final stages, Raducanu was still something of an outsider as she battled from a 4/1 price to eventually claim gold.

She now finds herself at the forefront of betting markets for future Grand Slams, priced at around 7/1 to repeat her incredible feat at Wimbledon next year.

It was also a weekend for more established stars, as plenty cashed in on the return of Cristiano Ronaldo, who notched up a brace as Manchester United dispatched of Newcastle by four goals to one.

Plenty of operators sought to maximise engagement with the return of Ronaldo through an abundance of offers and price boosts, as punters cashed in on him reopening his Manchester United goalscoring account.

Elsewhere in the Premier League, it was weekend for the favourites, with Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea all notching up wins – further enlivening what is set to be a wide open title race this season.

In terms of the race for the Premier League crown, champions City are still relatively clear – favourites, followed by Chelsea, who continued their strong start to the season.

In spite of Summer spending, Liverpool remain at a slightly shorter price than bitter-rivals Manchester United, in what is sure to be a season filled with twists and turns.
