After a fantastic start to the season, Graham Potter’s Brighton have a chance to go top of the table and get one over on bitter rivals Crystal Palace this evening.

Looking ahead to the clash, which is steeped in history and animosity, Rory Jennings stated on The Big Stage podcast that always enlivens his excitement.

He emphasised: “This is one where the fans do go wild, the travelling Palace fans especially – they do all really go wild. It’s similar to say, Southampton vs Portsmouth or Newcastle vs Sunderland – these are almost the bigger ones and they go under the radar.

“I’m looking forward to it and I think it’s exciting. Palace have a tendency to get a good result – I think they got past them in the Play-Offs recently, which was obviously a significant one.”

Palace also enjoyed success in a high-tempered derby clash with Tottenham earlier in the campaign, dismantling the North London side by three goals to nil, whilst Brighton come into the tie in especially high spirits having won four from five this season.

The Big Stage went on to analyse where the rivalry stems from, looking back on an old clash between Alan Mullery and the Palace fans.

Furthermore, both Joe Ryan and Jennings picked Brighton to continue their positive form and take the victory – highlighting the momentum they have coming into the game.
