Smarkets powered sportsbook app, SBK, has confirmed a sponsorship with one of the country’s most exciting flat trainers, George Boughey.
Having only started training in July 2019 with a handful of lowly-rated horses, Boughey has rapidly ascended the training ranks and in 2021 has sent out 81 winners in Europe at an eye-catching 19% strike rate.
Boughey commented on the partnership: “I’m delighted to be teaming up with SBK for the next two years. It is a really exciting partnership for all of us at Saffron House Stables and hopefully we can continue to progress as a yard in 2022 and beyond.”
Adam Baylis, SBK, said: “The opportunity to sponsor George Boughey and his yard is an incredibly exciting one for SBK. We are thrilled to be teaming up with one of the most exciting stables in the country and we can’t wait to see what George will achieve in the next two years.”
The collaboration marks SBK’s first sponsorship of a trainer, but the sportsbook app has grown significantly into horse racing in 2021 with several jockey sponsorships. On the flat, Sean Levey, Nicola Currie and Richard Kingscote are SBK sponsored jockeys and on the National Hunt side of the sport, SBK have Tom Bellamy and Page Fuller.
