A crucial title clash kicks off this weekend’s action as Manchester City host Chelsea, in a repeat of last season’s Champions League final.

Joining bettingexpert’s The Big Stage podcast, former Chelsea star Gus Poyet didn’t hold back in underlining the importance of the game, as he stated it will define whether Thomas Tuchel’s side are still in the title race.

He recalled the fixture back at Stamford Bridge, which was ‘controlled completely’ by City as Poyet described this Saturday’s reverse meeting as ‘very, very important’ whilst maintaining hope that Tuchel can find something different to produce a victory and keep the title race alive.

Chelsea fan and regular on The Big Stage, Rory Jennings, was more optimistic than Poyet however, as he revealed he fancies Chelsea to come away from the Etihad with a massive three points this weekend.

He pinpointed Chelsea’s style as being perfect for getting one over on the Premier League champions and keeping the title race going – with Tuchel having the edge over the City boss in their gladiatorial battle from the dugout.

Nonetheless, he also stated he feels it won’t be enough to halt City’s title charge as he thinks Pep Guardiola’s side has just been too special this season.

Ben Dinnery also provided an insight into the injury situation for the two teams, outlining the significance of the return of Thiago Silva and N’Golo Kante, who were both included in the squad this week against Spurs.
