The 102nd season of the National Football League (NFL) will commence next month, as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers look to defend their second Super Bowl championship.

Discussing the upcoming season on FOX Bet Live, Todd Fuhrman, Cousin Sal and Rachel Bonnetta outlined their views on who will be the biggest challenge to Tampa Bay in the NFL’s National Football Conference (NFC).

“I’m going to go with the San Francisco 49ers,” Fuhmann remarked. “This is a team we’ve talked about at great length, and yes there is a bit of uncertainty at their centre as to how long Jimmy Garoppolo will remain the starting quarterback before Kyle Shanahan gets an itchy trigger finger and goes to his newfound prize in Trey Lance.

“More importantly this is a 49ers defence that is going to be significantly healthier this year than we saw a season ago – a group that still finishes in the top five in a lot of key defensive metrics.”

Noting that Tampa ‘will have a target on their back,’ Fuhmann observed that only three American football teams since the early 1990s have won back-to-back NFC championships.

Cousin Sal, meanwhile, backed the Dallas Cowboys to unseat Tampa from its NFC throne, although adding that he was backing the Texan team because I’m not sure I’ll get an opportunity to talk about them again’, whilst noting the abilities of the team’s quarterback Dak Prescott.

“They have a legitimate chance, they’re going to win the division. Let’s look at these offensive numbers, before Dak got injured he was on pace for 5,000 yard passing – that’s a lot.”
