GambleAware has released a new responsible gambling campaign starring former England and Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips.

In it, a fan has just been branded with an England’s team tattoo ahead of the World Cup. As he’s looking at his reflection in one of the shops’ windows, Wright-Phillips passes by him, checks out his tattoo and gives it the thumbs up by saying that he likes labradors too, after which the camera reveals something reminiscent of a three-headed mongoose rather than the proud Three Lions.

The campaign is under the hashtag ‘BetRegret’ and will be pushed throughout the FIFA World Cup tournament, which commences on November 20.

Wright-Phillips also turns personally to the viewers about the risks of gambling, saying that ‘no one is safe’.

“Anyone can get carried away this tournament,” he states. “Whatever regrets you might have, don’t let gambling be one of them. Gambling harms can affect anyone. Search ‘Be GambleAware’ to learn how limits and other advice can help you avoid #BetRegret.”
