Esports has shed its status as a “fringe market” in Latin America to emerge as a significant revenue driver for operators, now accounting for between five per cent and 10% of total sportsbook volume in the region.

With Brazil’s betting industry alone estimated at $4.1bn, second only to mature markets like the US and UK, this vertical represents a major opportunity for operators targeting a digitally native, mobile-first demographic.

Recent industry analysis suggests that up to 70% of betting revenue in key markets such as Brazil and Mexico is expected to come via mobile channels, underscoring the need for high-performance infrastructure and seamless user experiences. These trends were the focus of a discussion on the Expert to Expert series, featuring Oddin.gg‘s Senior Development Managers, Juana Bischoff and Mauricio Lima, who examined both the wider LatAm region and the specific dynamics of Brazil.

In the session, titled “Oddin.gg experts discuss esports’ massive potential in LatAm,” the pair outlined how operator interest is moving beyond initial curiosity into strategic implementation.

Juana highlighted the financial upside: “From our experience and also what we see from our clients, esports can make up to five or… up to 10% of the whole sportsbook volume. As soon as you tell operators it can make up to 10% or even more, it is definitely a big number… everybody can take advantage of having this number to decide.”

The discussion stressed that esports bettors are largely incremental, rarely overlapping with traditional sports audiences. However, operators must navigate distinct regional preferences: Brazil is dominated by Counter-Strike 2, League of Legends, and Valorant, while markets such as Peru favour Dota 2. Catering to this tech-savvy audience requires not only a breadth of betting markets but also robust site uptime, as any technical shortcomings can drive immediate churn.

Oddin.gg also emphasised the role of outsourced risk management and specialised trading teams, which allow operators to manage margins and maintain profitability while scaling esports offerings.
