Providing a fascinating insight in the mind of fans and pundits, the second part of Sky Bet’s already acclaimed Overlap Live built the excitement for the upcoming season, which kicks off this evening with Brentford vs Arsenal. 

Hosted by Josh Denzel and bringing together the expertise of Premier League legends, Roy Keane, Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville,  the conversation commenced with a look at Everton and how they will fare under the controversial leadership of former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez. 

Benitez’s appointment has been met with mixed emotions given his status as an Anfield legend – however was keen to emphasise he feels that the Spaniard is a great manager. 

Moving on, the panel were quizzed on what they will be the key surprises of the season, which led to Keane underlining just how much he loves the unpredictability of the game and the Premier League in particular. 

He also emphasised the passion of the fans has been felt though this forum and emphasised his belief that having the fans back in can have a big role in this season. 

Analysing Newcastle in the coming season, Keane underlined his belief that ‘survival may be the best Newcastle can hope for at the moment, until the ownership changes’ and the club goes through a period of transformation.

In terms of intrigue, the panel highlighted Crystal Palace’s inaugural season under Patrick Viera, taken over from the rocksteady Roy Hodgson, as Keane, Neville and Carragher all backed the former Arsenal captain to do well in what is a tough job. 

To conclude, the panel opened discussions to the audience as lively debate ensued over the potential of Jack Grealish, whether Timo Werner can come good for Chelsea in a new position and how we eradicate racism in football for the coming season.
