Bruno Fernandes has been lauded as the ‘highlight’ of a Non-Fungible Token (NFT) drop by Portuguese fantasy football startup RealFevr.

The Red Devilsmidfielder was featured on an exclusive NFT depicting his celebration after scoring a goal for Sporting CP during the 2017/2018 season.

REalFevr made the packs available to consumers on 12 August, selling 75,000 within 24 hours. The company has plans to release a second round of products, including one NFT featuring Ronaldo’s first goal as a professional player whilst at Sporting CP in the early 2000s.

Football players included in the startup’s ‘first edition drop’ included Juventus star Ronaldo, Manchester United’s Fernandes – who made a strong impression in his first Premier League game of the season at the weekend, scoring three times in a 5-1 victory over cross-Pennine rivals Leeds United – as well as Liverpool’s Diogo Jota.

“It is clear proof that Portuguese companies can compete internationally at the  highest level and with impressive results,” explained Fred Antunes, RealFevr CEO, who described the deal as a ‘historic moment’ both for the company and for Portugal.

“It is an honor to lead this team and we are not done yet. This is just one step on the long road we have envisioned and that motivates us to keep working hard.”

It was announced that Fernandes would feature in RealFevr’s debut NFT drop last month, as the Lisbon-based company prepared to make the products available across three categories – Basic, Rare and Super Rare.

In the debut launch, RealFevr sold 5,000 Super Rare packs and 15,000 rare packs for a total of $1 million, with the remaining $500,000 made through the sale of around 55,000 Basic releases.

“I think it’s very cool that football lovers around the world can acquire iconic moments from some of their favourite players,” Fernandes commented at the time.

“Engagement with fans is really important for me and that is why I am supporting the launch of RealFevr’s NFTs. Some of my best goals scored for Sporting CP are part of the marketplace and I hope my fans around the world will be excited by the prospect of owning them.”
