In one of the weekends most anticipated Super League collisions, Leeds Rhinos meet Hull KR at the Emerald Headingley Stadium, with the latter looking to continue what many are considering the success storyof the season.

Speaking on Betfred’s Last Tackle podcast, Gareth Walker lauded Hull KR for their efforts so far, as he emphasised just how significant the derby will be to them.

The rugby league journalist continued: “Hull KR will be going into this thinking we can do this. They put a lot into that derby and came out on the wrong side of it but then lost a few games.

“You wondered if they’d stumbled at the final hurdles, but then they picked themselves up again, and what a fantastic result on Saturday night.”

After a flurry of tough fixtures in August, September so far has seen the team’s comfortable wins, and Walker expressed his fondness of Mikey Lewis: “I think he’s a really exciting young player to watch. He loves taking the line on and he’s not afraid to ask questions of defenders.”

After a solid campaign, Hull KR has assured its first Super League play-off appearance since 2013.

In a further boost for the side, it has also been announced that Hull’s winger, Ryan Hall, has extended his contract until the end of the 2023 season.
